At our August 15, meeting, the invocation was given by Dorreen Carey. Sergeant-at-arms Eric Tonk collected Happy Bucks from Gene Ayers for the "hot" Miller Beach real estate market; Joyce Davis for the great Rotary Urban Garden; Mike Doyne for our improved singing; Dick Hagelberg for the change in the parking fee at the Classic Auto Show sponsored by the Gary Airshow Committee; and John Roser because his daughter rescued him from the Dunes National Park parking lot. President Joyce announced that Gary Rotary had been given a District Governor Certificate for Community Service for our Urban Garden project. Joyce installed our newest member, Warren Johnson. More on Warren in future issues of our bulletin. Our speaker was Anna Martinez, owner of Anna's Kombucha cafe. She gave a history of her cafe and the brewing of kombucha. The $20 in the drawing went to Paul Orner (nice seeing you again Paul), and the mini prize of a Broadway Show Ticket refrigerator magnet went to Joyce Davis.
