The purpose of this project is to develop and support the management of durable
medical/mobility equipment to serve the needs of individuals and family members of
persons with temporary or permanent disabilities. The DEN operates out of space in the Marquette Park Methodist church. Project Chairperson Zully Alvarado reports that the limitations imposed by the Covid 19 pandemic has limited distribution of the equipment. However, on March 27, 2021, volunteers (many from US Steel) cleaned, disinfected, and tagged the equipment. Further, Zully reports that recently four (4) requests for equipment have been met serving residents of Miller and Glen Ryan neighborhoods. As knowledge of this project increases, more requests for equipment is expected.
