President elect Joyce Davis has sent a request to District 6540 for a District Grant to help fund the development of a community garden. Citing that Gary is becoming a "food desert", Gary Rotary is seeking to be involved with the development of a community garden on the grounds of St. Mary of the Lake Parish. With the aid of community 
volunteers, raised gardens are being prepared for use by citizens in our area. Users can obtain a garden site for $25 and the commitment to maintain and water the garden. Produce from the garden will be made available to the food pantry of St. Mary of the Lake parish. Pictured here are the raised gardens currently under construction.
